Moss, born on 13th February 1977, is an ex-American football player. He played
in the National Football League (NFL) for 14 seasons , including the Minnesota
Vikings, Oakland Raiders, New England Patriots, Tennessee Titans, and the San
Francisco 49ers. Along with Jerry Rice, he is widely regarded as being the
greatest wide receiver ever. He holds the NFL single-year touchdown record (23
in 2007) and the first NFL single season touchdown reception mark (17 in 1998).
He is also 2nd in the NFL all time regular season touchdown list with 156. Moss
was well-known for his prowess in securing contestable catches, and the term
"mossed" is now part of football's lexicon. Post-football, he began
working with ESPN as an analyst in the studio for their Sunday NFL Countdown
and Monday Night Countdown programs. Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia. He
was a student at DuPont High School. It was one of two schools which later
merged into Riverside High School. There the student excelled at football,
basketball track, track and other sports. Randy was also a part of the school's
debating club. Moss was the captain of the DuPont Panthers football team to two
consecutive state championships in 1992, 1993. He was a star at wide receiver and
also played free safety returning kickoffs and punts, and was the team's kicker
and punter. He was honored with the Kennedy Award in 1994 as West Virginia's
Football Player of Year. Parade magazine named him to their annual All-American
high school football team in 1995. in 2009, he was named one of the 50 greatest
footballers from high schools of all time.
